Our Philodendron Burle Marx plants come in a black 4” pot.  Philodendron Burle Marx, scientifically known as Philodendron ‘Burle Marxii', is a unique and captivating member of the Philodendron family.  Named after the Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, this plant is characterized by its large, dramatic leaves that exhibit a deeply incised and pinnate structure.  The leaves are glossy, emerald green and have an almost artistic quality to them, adding a touch of tropical beauty to any indoor or outdoor setting.

Care and Maintenance

Light
Provide bright, indirect light for optimal growth.  While it can tolerate lower light conditions, the plant thrives with more light.  Avoid direct sunlight, especially intense afternoon sun.
 
Watering
Allow the top few inches of the soil to dry out before watering.  Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy.  Water less during the winter months.
 
Humidity
This Philodendron appreciates higher humidity levels.  Regular misting or using a humidifier can help maintain a suitable environment.
 
Temperature
Keep the plant in a warm environment with temperatures ranging between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C).  Avoid exposure to cold drafts.
 
Soil
Use a well-draining, rich potting mix that retains some moisture.  A mix designed for aroids or tropical plants is ideal.
 
Fertilization
Feed the plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer), every 4-6 weeks.  Reduce or halt fertilization in the winter.
 
Pruning
Trim any yellowing or damaged leaves to promote healthy growth and maintain the plant’s appearance.  Pruning can also help control its size.
 
Support
As the Philodendron Burle Marx matures, it may benefit from a support like a moss pole to help it grow upright.
 
Pests and Diseases
Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests like spider mites, thrips, aphids, and mealybugs.  If you spot any pests, take action promptly with appropriate treatments.
 
Rotation
To ensure even growth and avoid the plant leaning towards the light source, rotate it every couple of weeks.
 
Dusting
Dust can accumulate on the leaves, hindering their ability to absorb light.  Wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth or give the plant a shower occasionally to keep it clean.
