Begonia Lana Angel Wing is a species of begonia known for its large leaves that are shaped like angel wings. This variety of begonia grows a thick stem, branches and can grow up to 3 ft tall. It can also be pruned to take on a more bush-like shape.

The leaves of Begonia Lana Angel Wing begin light green and darken as it ages. Its undersides are dark maroon. These leaves grow in the shape of angel wings with deep jagged edges. Begonia Lana Angel Wing foliage also displays stunning grey-silver, metallic variegation that resembles brush stokes along the length of the leaves. This is a year around bloomer with flowers buds that begin red and bloom to pink adding even more color to this already striking variety of begonia.

Care and Maintenance

Remember that each plant is unique, so closely monitor your plant and adjust its care based on its response. By providing the right conditions, you'll be rewarded with a stunning and healthy plant that adds a touch of tropical elegance to your indoor space.

Light

Provide bright, indirect light for your begonia. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but its coloration will be most pronounced and attractive in moderate to bright indirect light. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.

Temperature

Maintain a comfortable room temperature between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Keep it away from cold drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations.

Watering

Allow the top inch of the soil to dry out before watering. Water thoroughly when needed, but ensure that the pot has proper drainage to prevent waterlogged roots.

Soil

Use a well-draining potting mix to prevent overwatering. A mix of regular potting soil, perlite, and peat moss or coconut coir works well.

Fertilization

Feed your begonia with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or eliminate fertilization during the fall and winter when growth slows down.

Humidity

Begonia can tolerate average indoor humidity levels. However, it may benefit from increased humidity. Misting the plant or using a humidity tray can help.

Pruning

Trim any yellowing or dead leaves to maintain the plant's appearance and encourage new growth.

Potting

Repot your begonia when it becomes root-bound or outgrows its current container. Repotting is best done in the spring.

Dusting

Dust can accumulate on the leaves, hindering their ability to absorb light. Wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth or give the plant a shower occasionally to keep it clean.

Pests and Diseases

Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests like spider mites, thrips, aphids, and mealybugs. If you spot any pests, take action promptly with appropriate treatments.

Rotation

To ensure even growth and avoid the plant leaning towards the light source, rotate it every couple of weeks.
